2. RFC 3261 — SIP: Session Initiation Protocol
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Used for: the message grammar implemented in bytes.mbt, token.mbt, uri.mbt,
address.mbt, header.mbt and message.mbt, and the diagnostic rules in
diagnose.mbt.

RFC 3261, Rosenberg et al., "SIP: Session Initiation Protocol", June 2002.

This document and translations of it may be copied and furnished to others,
and derivative works that comment on or otherwise explain it or assist in its
implementation may be prepared, copied, published and distributed, in whole or

3. RFC 4475 — SIP Torture Test Messages
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Used for: the conformance corpus in rfc4475_vectors.json, rfc4475_test.mbt and
rfc4475_expectations.json. The message octets reproduced there are extracted
mechanically from the RFC by tools/extract_rfc4475.py. Section numbers and
message identifiers ("Message Details : <id>") are retained as provenance.

RFC 4475, Sparks et al., "Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Torture Test
    Messages", May 2006.
    https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc4475.txt
Copyright (c) 2006 IETF Trust and the persons identified as the document
    authors. All rights reserved.

Reproduction of the message octets is made under the IETF Trust Legal
Provisions, Section 3 (Rights in IETF Documents) and the "Code Components"
provisions thereof, which permit extraction of code components from IETF
documents into software. The RFC text itself is NOT included in this
repository; rfc4475.txt is fetched by the user when reproducing the fixtures.

The verdicts recorded in rfc4475_expectations.json are paraphrases of the
prose in each RFC section, prepared by this project. They are not quotations
of normative text; where they conflict with the RFC, the RFC governs.

4. Generated files
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following files are generated and contain only message octets, message
identifiers and section numbers:

    rfc4475_vectors.json
    rfc4475_vectors.txt
    rfc4475_test.mbt

Regenerate them with:

    python3 tools/extract_rfc4475.py --rfc rfc4475.txt --out-dir .
    python3 tools/gen_tests.py
